Client Profile and Contest Winner

Our property profile for this issue is Shuswap Lake Motel & Resort who also won our Tofino contest, which included a stay at the Best Western Tin Wis and a whale watching trip with Jamies Whale Watching. Don and Sherri Mitchell were able to enter the contest because they recommended us a new client. Congratulations!

As a result, we thought that it might be a good idea to learn more about their business, the Shuswap Lake Motel and Resort. It is what we call a "mixed practice" as they have a motel and campsites.

But where the heck is Sorrento anyway? We borrowed their map from their web site (see bottom of article) to answer that question. Sort of near Kamloops and sort of near Salmon Arm and sort of near Sicamous.

Since we obviously didn't know much, we asked Don and Sherri some questions and here's what we learned:

What would you say is the most important feature of your accommodation? What sets it out from others?
"Price, cleanliness and friendliness. Lots of green grass, picnic tables, barbecues, and deck chairs all in front of cabins, free of charge. Kids playing fields with sandbox etc. Horseshoes, Ping-Pong."

What does Sorrento have to offer that the nearby Salmon Arm or Sicamous do not?
" Small town feel - everyone very friendly - especially our staff. Lots of green open spaces."

Does running both a campsite and motel have any particular challenges?
"No not really - very important to keep the campsite family oriented and screen customers carefully."

Is there anything special you'd like us to include in the newsletter profile?
"May 15th is our 10 year anniversary running this place. We have questionnaires in every room and customers always "love the place" - lots of return business and lots of recommendations."
